The Hellacopters - Payin' The Dues

cover
The Hellacopters have paid their dues for years now and are still one of the bands that have seemed to help lead the Rock And Roll Jihad! From the latest album High Visibility to the old stuff like Respect the Rock America the 'Copters simply kick ass.
To me, Payin' the Dues was a much needed effort. Dregen and Nick Royale have been dueling these axes and layin' down high-powered Action Rock and it's more than obvious on the classics Supershitty to the Max (one of my favorite albums of all time) and the well-respected Devil Stole the Beat From the Lord.

The Hellacopters also have a DVD out (Goodnight Cleveland) which is superb. Instead of showing them play huge crowds and arenas to 30,000 people like they do everywhere EXCEPT America, they show the band setting up their own gear and touring the U.S. like a real rock band. Which proves my point even more about Payin' the Dues.

"The Hellacopters: Goodnight Cleveland is a fly on the wall documentary following the Hellacopters on their 2002 tour of America. Informed by the techniques of cinema verit‚ and direct cinema developed in the 1960's by master documentary filmmakers such as the Maysle brothers, the band is allowed the space to do what they do without intrusions of any kind from the filmmaker, allowing for glimpses into the magical and mundane moments of everyday life in a hard working action rock band abroad. The Hellacopters: Goodnight Cleveland is a relaxed and open-handed portrait of a band on the road. Essential viewing for anyone pondering a career in music." - Amazon.com

Looking for other good 'Copters albums to pick up?

Check out Disappointment Blues and the have-to-have Vol. 2-Cream of the Crap of all the old vinyl b-sides and rarities that have been sold on ebay for uncalled for prices.

When Nick Royale heard some of his first vinyl was selling for hundreds of dollars, I was reading the news on the 'Copters site like 3 years ago, and his response was: "Don't pay 100's of dollars for these old vinyls, I will put out discs containing all the old stuff." And so he did. Well worth the bucks. The Hellacopters fucking rule.

The latest Hellacopters album is High Visibility and is an absolute must-have for the 'Copter collector.

If you're gonna rock, you better do it fast, and high-powered.

The 'Copters are like an old GTO suped up with 3 engines, Motorhead on the radio, and sex, drugs and rock and fucking roll!
